On the trail of communism
Return with us to the era of communism, which ended in the Czech Republic in 1989 with the Velvet Revolution. During the communist era, the Hotel Jalta was a very important hotel, not only because it was built in a Socialist Realism style known as Stalinist Baroque, but also because the Communist regime had other plans for the hotel, an example of which is the previously secret fallout shelter, which was to have served as military headquarters for the Warsaw Pact countries.
